Dartmouth Figure Skating Club places 5th at Nationals

After a season of hard work and development, the Dartmouth Figure Skating Club achieved 5th place at the 2023 National Intercollegiate Final hosted by UCLA. The competition took place from April 13th to 15th with 16 collegiate teams competing for the title. The Dartmouth team's journey in qualifying for Nationals included placing third in the Northeast Intercollegiate Classic in Utica, New York on March 12 as well as participating in events hosted by MIT and NYU. Their performances throughout the season allowed the team to finish in the top four in the northeast which secured their bid to nationals. 

The Dartmouth team brought 15 skaters to Anaheim with many skaters competing in different disciplines. Captain David Kaufmann '23 describes, "We are incredibly proud of how our team persevered throughout the season and finished on a high note! We had some very stiff competition in our conference so even qualifying for the national championships was a huge achievement.  To see so many incredible skates from our team and to see them rewarded in our scores at Nationals was so rewarding." 

Ultimately, Dartmouth scored 180 points overall while the winning team, Boston University, scored 276 points. As a nod to the strength of their region, four of the top eight teams all hailed from the northeast. First place finishers include Sasha Fear '26 in international solo pattern dance, David Kaufman '23 in silver pattern dance and Levi Olevsky GR in both juvenile men short program and excel juvenile men's free skate.
