Winter Intramurals sees Record Participation

The 2020 winter intramural season has seen a record number of participants. Currently over 500 students, faculty and staff are participating in 38 teams that fill out four leagues of IM hockey. Of note, over 45% of the participants identify as female, making this the highest rate of female participation in any of our IM sports over the past six years. The teams will all compete in at least three regular season games with top teams moving on to the playoffs which are scheduled to begin on Sunday, February 16th.

In the House Basketball league, the six Houses are participating in a three-week round-robin regular season. At the end of round-robin play, the top four teams will advance to compete in the championship tournament. More than 90 students have participated in the league this season.

Mason Kaiser, the newly hired IM coordinator, says, "It was a great feeling coming into a program whose participation numbers were at a record high. It allowed me to hit the ground running and learn as much as possible as quickly as possible."
