COVID-19 Impact

In light of the current health crisis, all athletic facilities are closed and spring FLIP classes are suspended until further notice.

Additionally, the requirements of a successful swim test and all remaining physical education credits for those undergraduate students who are graduating in June and have not yet met these requirements have been suspended.

Spring 2020 Virtual PE Classes

For those of you who are not seniors, but are still interested in earning a PE credit for 20S, there are two virtual offerings: Pandemic Personal Wellness, a facilitated independent project focused on learning about and finding the best ways for physical, mental and emotional self-care during these trying times and Inside Snowsports, a course designed to provide an experienced skier or rider with an in-depth cognitive perspective of the mechanics of skiing and riding.

Pandemic Personal Wellness

This class is a facilitated independent project. We will focus on learning about and finding the best ways for physical, mental and emotional self-care during these trying times.

A required once weekly Zoom meeting will discuss the week's expectations and create a support network of fellow students and your facilitator. A weekly log of 2-3 hours of activity and a reflection on weekly assignments will be due by Friday evenings 9PM EDT.

The class starts the week of April 13 and runs 6 weeks, ending May 22.

Facilitated by PE and Recreation staff

  • Section A: Monday 8-8:45AM EDT -- CRN 32400
  • Section B: Monday 8:30-9:15AM EDT -- CRN 32401
  • Section C: Monday 4:30-5:15 PM EDT -- CRN 32402
  • Section D: Tuesday 9-9:45AM EDT -- CRN 32403
  • Section E: Tuesday 4:45-5:30PM EDT -- CRN 32404

INSIDE SNOWSPORTS CRN 32405

The goal of the course is to provide an experienced skier or rider with an in-depth cognitive perspective of the mechanics of skiing and riding.  Additionally, interdisciplinary comparisons and the history of skiing at Dartmouth will be discussed, as well as safety on the slopes.

The class will meet online from 4:30-5:15 PM EDT for six Monday afternoons starting April 13 and concluding May 18. There will be a few physical drills presented during these sessions, so wear comfortable clothing.

In addition to the mandatory weekly 45 minute class time, there will be 2-2 ½ hours of written/video material assigned for study each week, with follow-up discussion during the next class meeting.
